Oliver Springs vs Wartburg
Oliver Springs hosted Wartburg Friday night. For the Lady Bobcats running the floor and pushing the tempo was key to their success as they cruised to a 65-40 victory. For the guys, they had a much more difficult challenge. Shutting down 6’7” Alex Fountain would be the key if the Bobcats wanted to come away with a victory. The boys started out fast but lost steam late as Wartburg extended lead late winning by a final of 66-48.
Girls Game
The Lady Bobcats started out fast and moved the ball well rolling off a 10-3 run. Late in the first quarter the Lady Bobcats crashed the boards getting multiple looks at the rim rolling off another run ending the first quarter leading 15-3. The Oliver Springs defense caused Wartburg to play badly. Rachael Griffith hit two big three pointers to push the lead. Late in the second Oliver Springs took advantage of Wartburg’s weak perimeter defense by hitting the outside shots. The Lady Bobcats go into half time up 30-14.
The Lady Bobcats started out the third quarter playing great defense causing Wartburg to turn the ball over leading to some easy fast-break points. Late in the third Wartburg trying to cut the led but just could not get it rolling on either end of the floor. Oliver Springs goes into the fourth up 45-28. Oliver Springs started out the fourth on a 6-0 run due to some good guard play by Emily Griffith. The Lady Bobcats continued their good play and finished the game winning by a final of 65-40

Guys Game
Oliver Springs won the tip and came out fast playing good defense and crashing the boards, going on an 11-0 run led by John Simms. Wartburg finally stopped the bleeding with a quick 2 points off a steal with 3:30 left in the first. Late in the first Wartburg started to climb back into the game getting some quick points late. At the start of the second neither team played well and Wartburg started to get some momentum late playing good pressure defense and hitting some big shots. Oliver Springs led going into halftime 32-21.
Oliver Springs got the ball to start the 3rd quarter and started out flat. Wartburg went on a 13-2 run led by Alex Fountain with 7 points, tying the game at 34-34. Oliver Springs picked it up late in the 3rd, leading 44-42. Wartburg opened the 4th on an 8-0 run. Oliver Springs wasn’t playing smart defense nor taking good shots. As the 4th pressed on, Fountain took the game over, pushing the lead to 66-48.
Wartburg’s Alex Fountain proved to be too much for the Oliver Springs Bobcats as Wartburg won 66-48.
