Don't Look Now

You may find on ESPN's home page a couple days ago, a prediction by Brad Edwards, that says he thinks the first BCS rankings of this season will look like this... 3. TCU...2. Oregon... 1. Ohi-...wait... Boise State?! Don't look now, but here we go again.
Whether the BCS likes it or not, (I sure as hell don't) the Broncos could be ranked first by whatever computer system the BCS set up. Oregon at number two sounds right. TCU at 3 may be a bit high. How bout Ohio State, ranked first by the coaches and the media, placed 5th in the projections. I don't know if this Edwards guy was high off something when he wrote this, but I can't believe that the rankings could be this whacked. Yes, they're usually incorrect, but not this badly. LSU would be ahead of Nebraska, which as of now I don't like,(yes I'm sticking up for the Huskers over my SEC teams) and why in the world would 4 teams be in front of Ohio State. Yes, I don't think the Buckeyes are the best in the nation, nor do I think they are a legitimate number one with that conservative approach, but if they're ranked first in the AP and coaches poll, which counts for part of the BCS vote, than why would the "horse shoe" crew be 5th in the first BCS rankings of the season.
In a way, I understand the idea of waiting till week 4 or 5 before any rankings are released whatsoever, and getting rid of the AP poll all together. The BCS would love to be able to tell the associated press to buzz-off, but it's not that simple. So, with where Ohio State is now (1st) to where Edwards projects the them to be in the BCS (5th), makes the BCS look stupid once again. It is true that Ohio State really hasn't impressed too many people, with a close game against Illinois and a couple contests where people expected the score to be ran-up more. That's OK, then just put Oregon at number one. They just beat a really good Stanford team a couple of weeks ago, and are a lock for 40 points every game. But no, they have to have the "blue" boys first. They beat Oregon State. Congrats, your the best team in the nation! But if it was me ranking, I'd be using the words from a person no one should ever use words from: "Not so fast my friend!"
