Chad Ochocinco: It was Only a Matter of Time
November 10th 2010 15:08
Could they play together? That was the main question when the news was broke that Terrell Owens, the most attention-seeking wide receiver in the game, had been signed by the Cincinnati Bengals. The team welcomed the past-troubled receiver, who had just finished a short, un-successful stint in Buffalo. Even the star receiver for the Bengals at the time, Chad Ochocinco seemed welcome to the idea of T.O. playing in Cinci, and even endorsed the idea. But it seems things have changed. Funny how they do when the ball isn't coming your way.
Carson Palmer found T.O. for two touchdowns Monday night, to give Owens a whopping 7 touchdowns, 55 catches overall, and 770 yards in only half of a season. The season has been a great one for Owens, but the same could not be said for the Bengals, who are currently 2-6 after winning the division last season. After being their leading receiver from last year, Ochocinco has only 473 yards and 2 touchdowns so far this season. And he clearly doesn't like that. In an act to grab attention, Ochocinco went all out Monday, exchanging heated words with Palmer and coach Marvin Lewis while sporting his bright gold cleats. 85 eventually got sent to the bench to let the steam air out.
Ochocinco has a bevy of other names he can go by including "Robin", "Barney Fife", or "Dr.Watson", just to name a few. So while T.O. has been flying around the field like Bat-man, having a career year, Ochocinco has been mostly shut-down this season. And now that T.O. is getting the publicity, it looks as if Ochocinco isn't so tight with being the side-kick. I'm curious see how long their little reality show goes on, and how long Ochocinco can last with out making his feelings completely known to the media. It would be the same way if T.O.wasn't getting the ball and Chad was. You had to know this was coming. It was only a matter of time. Let the long second-half of the season for Marvin Lewis began.
