Albert Haynesworth Wants Trade
June 16th 2010 22:30
Albert Haynesworth has requested a trade, this coming from the Associated Press this morning. Haynesworth was M.I.A. during mandatory mini-camp today saying that he didn't want to switch to the 3-4 defense that the Redskins are going to since Mike Shanahan's arrival this off-season.
There has not been a positive response from the locker room for just about all Redskins players, calling Haynesworth "selfish", and "turning his back on the team". Shanahan even revealed that they gave Haynesworth an option back in February that if he didn't want to play that defense that they would trade him to a different team in exchange for not paying him the 21 millon dollar bonus that was due to him on April 1st. I guess the April fools trick was on the Redskins as Hayesworth took the money and ran.
The Redskins are pursuing a return on the 21 millon dollars that Haynesworth took.
The Redskins can also charge him 9,442 dollars just for missing today mandatory practice. Makes you think about what little we have at risk if we don't go to work for a day, huh?
Linebacker London Fletcher was the most outspoken about the situation saying "There's ways he cannot be a Redskin: Give the money back. We'll move on without him. I want teammates who I can depend on, who I can count on, who in the fourth quarter I know is going to be there to make a play or do his job that the defense calls [for]. We need people that we can depend on. And at the end of the day, right now, he's showing that he can't be depended upon. ... Last year we had a lot of selfishness that took place, and we got 4-12 out of that. This year, we can't have that."
So what are your thoughts, should he get traded... I think so.. he was a bust from the get go. A player that has always thought nothing of his teammates, and everything of himself. Just look at what he did last year. He played in 12 games had just 4 sacks, had 37 solo tackles... Is that worth 100 millon dollars?... I think not.
